I have a couple of Morgans that look horrible. I was thinking about turning them in for melt to buy some that look decent. With silver over $46, what should I be able to get on a 90% coin? I assume I can't get what a troy ounce of silver is.

Morgans do not weigh an ounce. They have .77344 of an ounce. Worn coins less.

$46.61 = silver price / ounce on Apr 21, 2011.
.90 = silver %
$4.3819 = copper price / pound on Apr 21, 2011.
.10 = copper %
26.73 = total weight in grams
.0321507466 = ounce/gram conversion factor

Right now a Morgan contains about $36 worth of silver... as stated above worn = less... I'd say try for $30 each depending on how worn...

Unless you're trying to sell to a dealer, you should be able to get 32-35 each quite easily. Hot item right now.

Advertise on C...list, Major auction sites...Various forums. Post them for sale, and they're gone rather quickly. There's tons of buyers right now.

Yes, coins for melt value are hot now. Even some coins with collectible value are being sold at the silver content prices. Now is the time were some are buying collecter coins basically at melt value. I bought the 2011 proof set last Friday for 67.95 and now the coins that are silver plus the face of the others is that value. Can't buy them now from the mint since the beginning of the week. Anything silver has great value.
