Where are you getting this? The NYSE is closed for the weekend, and I'm still seeing bid and ask prices on all the dealer's sites in the 46.70 area.

Good lord Muddler. Did you at least mumble off a few choice words to the crook behind the counter? or at least laugh hysterically at him?

I was in my dealer's shop yesterday and he told me about a kid who came in to sell some 90%. It seems the kid had gone to a shop a few miles away and was quoted $1 for each silver half! Obviously we all know better, however it makes me sick to think of these people preying on the un-informed.
I'm always telling different people what a silver dime or quarter is worth and most of the time they seemed surprised. Knowledge is power.

I started at buying silver at 27 an oz in LATE JAN, and now it sets close to 47 an oz in late April, really. Man, I was a about a year or to late on starting to hoard silver. Really blows my mind to think it did nothing from 1981 until early 2011, say an increase of like 25 an oz. And like another wise member pointed out, many had to wait 30 years, just to break even, lol. Now it goes up 20 bucks an oz in three months! To many new factors in play now, to repeat 1980 history IMO, lets hope I am right, as I don't wanna wait 30 years for it to hit the 40's again, and have a chance to break even....

I don't see any way the dollar situation is going to improve. They are probably going to pull a 2 for 1 split knowing these financial Wiz Kids we have running the show for us. I believe a new currency, possibly the Amero, is going to replace our new counterfeit greenback. Sad times are on the horizon. Good times ahead for we metalheads.

Ayejay1974, It was what I had thought my luck would be in my rural area of the country. I will have to sell on line or to a large company like Provident Metals to get any thing near the true value for my silver. A 200 mile drive to a major metro market would not be cost effective either.

Cut the value of the dollar in half and we won't have such a huge national debt! When you're paying $5/gallon for gasoline this summer - everybody will figure this out - or at least most people!

Yes, that is pretty disgusting. I would be tempted to lay a silver dime on the counter and say, "Sir, I would like to buy one of those pre-1964 Washingtons in the case there". When the crook says that it costs more to buy that, I reply with, "Yes, but that is the same deal you just offered me." Don't worry about the scamers out there. They pull their tricks a few times and then, thanks to the Internet, EVERYONE out there will know to avoid them. They deserve much worse, of course, but it is a start.
