Hi everyone, I'm new to the coin community family and I was wondering if any of you would be able to help me :) I have a roman coin which through my own investigation I believe dates back to emperor Caligula as I think it has his face on one side and on the other side is his 3 sisters. I was wondering if anyone knew by my pics below if it looks authentic and if it is what its value could be? I'm not sure on the material- it seems to have been coated in copper but seems very yellow as well like if it was a copper gold mix maybe? Many thanks! x

Clueless if that is real or fake, even though it looks real on first glance, via the patina eh....

Caligula, the son of Germanicus, who many believe was killed by Tiberius, Caligula's grandfather, hence his less then friendly demeanor, esp after he recovered from a strange fever, where he never was the same there after, and became the tyrant that history speaks of. His own guard killed him and wife and daughter, and placed the crown on the head of uncle Claudius, who played dumb very well....

When Caligula was a young boy, he rode in on a chariot after one of his father's victory's at war wearing a fancy battle outfit complete with military boots, and the crowd chanted Caligula, which is Latin and translates too "little boots"

I know this helps you zero, just an interesting history note IMO....

Your coin is fake, I'm afraid. It has all the hallmarks of a typical cast "tourist copy": bubbly surface, mushy details, a pronounced rim on both sides and that fluorescent green patina.

Yes- I'm afraid it's quite a common copy.

Compare it to a real one and you can see the difference
