Granted it's about a hundred years into the future, but still a bday serial.

thanks for the comments on the bill. Where would be a good place to start looking for the value of it or any other information on errors like this.

Try ebay! Also, there are other auction houses that may have some sales of like items on record..

You could also get a book about currency, possibly one that is specifically about errors.. I don't know what the title of the book is.. Hopefully someone else will chime in!

Price $250 and up depending on how it grades.

Although there are no folds etc the paper looks different to me from the pictures.

How was the $10 note stored?

There is a very easy way to test Currency to verify if it's genuine, if fact I showed this to my bank teller a few years back... U.S. Currency is printed on a Intaglio press with the end result of raised ink on the currency stock (paper)... You can actually feel the raised ink when you slide the paper between your thumb and index finger nail, the lighter the pressure, the easier it is to feel the raised ink... On the One Dollar Note, I found the best place to test this is on the lower left side on George Washington's portrait, the higher the note's grade, the easier it is to feel (may take some practice), and needless to say the bank tellers were surprised when I mentioned that counterfeit notes from modern copy machines can't produce the raised images displayed on genuine currency...
One of the exceptions to the above is when the United States BEP gave the Shah of Iran one currency press back in the mid 1970's and they printed a untold amount of $100.00 notes from counterfeit plates after the Shah was overthrown, and passed off the notes globally...
Hope this helps as there are many counterfeit errors on ebay...

I have a $10.00 bill that only got printed on one side. I aquired it while working at a check cashing company. The bill was in a fresh batch of 10's from the Federal Reserve. I have had it for over 25 years and it has never been out of the envelope that I put it in since I got it. I, after seeing this site, will have to go to my safe deposit box and get the date and serial number. I have never asked anyone about the value before, any thoughts?

I do not see any trace of tampering with either note but as I said before I am no expert on currency. If you wanted to be sure about them you could find a currency expert and have their opinion or you could send the bills to a grading company and they will authenticate and grade the notes and that will give you a concrete point to start from to find a value. I usually say that its not worth the grading costs unless the item is worth a couple hundred dollars but from the responses you have had on here it looks like these may be worth getting graded/authenticated and should also make them easier to sale if that is what you are looking to do with the notes
