Edge burr is joined to the face on Aust' $1 Roo' coin. Tried carefully to lever burr up and across but it's "part of the coin face".

Members thoughts appreciated, did it leave the Mint with this?. Thank you.

My thoughts must be open to question. But is it possible that the damage could have done to the hub, before the working die was made? If that is the case, there should be at least a few in circulation before the problem was spotted and the damaged hub and die were withdrawn from production.

I notice that the top of the spur is flattened. That may not mean much, because the spur does indeed look to be part of the coin surface.

I also notice a double rim in the area of the spur. Does the double rim continue around the whole circumference of the coin?

I cannot entirely dismiss the possibility of PMD

Given the amount of damage that seems to have afflicted the rest of the coin, I would assume the blemish in question is merely post-mint-damage, too.

pmd. we have a counter/sorter that counts minibux as quarters, but puts a little nick on the rim of them.
