I'm trying to get better at grading these, so I thought I'd show you guys a pic, and see if I'm anywhere close.

1942-Walking-Liberty-Half

I'm thinking in the high AU's, maybe AU-57.It looks like there is a bit of wear on Liberty's hand so I do not think it is UNC, and there is a bit of wear on the eagles breast, but you can still see the general shape of the feathers. It also (I know this picture really doesn't do it justice) has one heck of a luster. Also, how do you tell whether or not one of these are weakly struck?

nice mint luster...slight rub on thigh puts it at AU58 slider range IMO
Rest in Peace

From the pictures it just looks full Uncirculated to me, plus the focal areas are very very clean. Luster looks complete, and on an AU coin there is usually some noticeable dulling or 'clouding' of it. There's a certain 'look' to AU coins that is very subtle but is almost always present. I don't know these that much, but I do know that strike issues are common on these. The eagle's breast also looks to have no wear. It is possible that it doesn't look so nice in hand or there is some slight wear or chatter that doesn't seem apparent in the photos, but I'm just grading from the pics I guess.

Believe this is an easy 64. CLEAN coin...as in very nice. Couple small ticks in the obverse field, but that is it. Cannot tell if that is a finger print on the obverse in the "L" area. Regardless...still go 63 at least.

OK, I had suspected that it might be a weakly struck one, but the feathers had a kind of soft lightly worn look to me. I thought if it were weakly struck that it would indeed have a loss of detail on the high points, but the detail that is there would be more sharp, if Unc. There really isn't much chatter around it, a fairly long nick between one of the rays of the sun to the flag wrapped around Ms. Liberty, and a scuff in front of the eagles beak, but other than that just evidence that this was probably bumped around in a mint bag or something.

I don't believe it is. In hand it looks like some light wisps of toning, it really doesn't follow any fingerprint pattern that I know of. The picture doesn't really pick up all the toning.

Thanks for the help guys .

HalfDollarDave, I don't see any circulation wear in those pics, either. I'll agree with ShadowCreator, that's a MS-65.

OK, that's what I wanted to know. I thought there was a good chance that it might be, but to me (at the time) the flatness of Ms. Liberty's hand and the lack of detail looked like it might have had some light wear. I've read in Redbooks that well struck specimens bring premiums, but I have never heard how to tell if a Walker was weakly struck or not.

Thanks guys.
