I bought an Esso glass cube bank at an estate sale, and the few coins inside turned out to be all mint state Washingtons(1951's and 1952's), Rosies (1951), and several beautiful Lincolns at least MS 66. They are gorgeous red with minor toning. Three of the Lincolns are 1955 P at least MS 65 and two 1952 D's in the same condition. I noticed that one of these perfect 1952's had a problem on the reverse. The "U" in UNITED is cocked far to the right and is divided into three sections. I have five free submissions to NGC. Would you submit this coin to NGC or is this MS 66 Error just a damaged coin?

How could we possibly answer this without seeing the coin?

Agreed, we need pictures. Also keep in mind that for NGC to include an error/variety attribution, it must recognize the error or variety and you must pay an extra $10, and mark it on the submission form. You might want to do a little research to determine if this coin meets any of the diagnostics for a known variety/error.

I am in the process of learning how to post pictures. As soon as I learn my contributions will be useful. I apologize.

Junior- please don't take this the wrong way, but you absolutely MUST learn how to grade before you start tossing money away on slabs. Certification is a very costly game, won only by those who have years of real experience under their belts.

I understand you believe the coin to be an MS-66, but what you described is a nasty contact mark or gash, which will render your coin as a very low grade mint state or get it placed in a "Genuine" or "Details" holder. If this is greek to you, start doing your research. Otherwise you'll end up with a very harsh perspective on the world we all love (coins).

I hope you read this and see it as assistance, not criticism. Best wishes, -Chris.
