please take a look at this coin on ebay, the ( 4 ) looks wrong on the rear

Possible-Fraud-4-Ducat--Coin, or are there 2 different strikes with different fours.

All I know is that Krause labels this coin as a restrike issue. However, the picture in Krause shows an open top on the 4. I zoomed the coin, and there is something odd about the 4, extra metal or some possible damage. I can't define the image enough to really see what it is, but there is something out of the usual based on Krause.

I have looked further at this coin (as I have an original) and it looks wrong, can anyone confirm it is genuine of fake please?

These were re-struck for a long time, not surprising to find die varieties. I wouldn't worry about this one.

Coins of this date are basically bullion pieces. In my opinion the $800 is too high since these are not likely to gain a significant collectible premium any time soon. Even if you believe gold is going to go higher and want to buy it purely as gold investment, you may want to consider other opportunities that are much closer to bullion price.
The 1915 4 ducats I've recently seen sell as auctions on ebay did in the $700 range.
