I found a 'Connecticut' quarter that is in between the size of a nickel and a normal-sized quarter due to the fact it has no rim/edge whatsoever. The quarter is, overall, in very good condition; I have no reason to believe it is the victim of a vending machine or erosion. The edge is almost rounded-like. Any ideas on what type of error this could be or general feedback would be appreciated.

I have attached pictures. Thanks.

There is a real possibility that the quarter was
struck on a blank planchet meant for another coin
Such as a dime planchet or even possibly
a blank planchet meant for another countries coinage
It might be a good idea to weigh it on a gram scale and post it
again in the Modern US Variety & Error Coins portion
of this forum. There are some very very talented and
knowledgeable Error and Variety Collectors that frequent that part of
the forum. The coin looks promising

I wish you the best of luck with it

It is not an error, someone has removed the rim. It is not a wrong planchet because full design detail is present, the detail would be seriously impaired(weak and mushy) if a planchet much lighter than a quarter was used. There is also no chance it was struck on a foreign planchet because the US Mint has not struck coins for foreign countries for a couple decades now. The second picture shows the copper core visible just above CONNECTICUT- a definitive sign that the rim was removed post-mint.

Could it be missing a clad layer?

Missing a clad layer does not affect diameter.

That's a neat quarter having no rim. Where did you find that?

Is it clad like a regular quarter or only 1 metal? Wouldn't a nickel planchet retain more detail as it is (I'm assuming) thicker than a quarter?

Why and how would someone remove the rim?

Even though it may be PMD, its still a fun coin!
