I truly beat the find-rate odds by pulling this 1895 Indian Head cent from a roll this morning ... I'm a part time cent roll searcher and to date have completed only 3 boxes!

Anyways ... I grade at G4 and note with interest the PMD ... someone a long time ago started to turn this cent into an octagon!

The ground/filed rims have naturally toned over the years to the exact same chocolate brown of the coin ... so I am assuming this PMD was done a long time ago ....

Great fun for me ... I'll add this lovely to my eccentric collection of PMD coins. Here are the current favorites in m PMD set ....

Sooo ... first ever roll-found IHC for me ... and an addition to my fun PMD set at the same time. It's not every day that we can pull a 106 year old coin from circulation.

Wonderful I say.

All comments appreciated.

The only thing I can think of is the coin may have been fit into something, a.k.a., an "encased coin," at one point, or other. Anyway, we take them as we find them, and, but for the PMD, it's a nice, solid G. Congrats!

Nice find! Wonder what the intent was for shaping it like that. Not bad for 3 boxes in!
