If you have these die cracks. I've held a couple now and this is the only one with die cracks. With the cracks, I'd figure it is a later die state. How many dies were used in 2000 that gave the AM error? For Morgan and Peace Vams, a larger premium is pd for die stages as they progress. Is this the same for cents?

I keep die cracks but you'll find die polishing lines on a lot of the cents. The dies get polished to cover clash marks etc..

Here's a minor die crack. If you search enough of the same date (and mint mark) you might be able to keep track of the progression of the crack:

Just out of curiosity- what are you going to do with all of those cracks when you have dozens of rolls of them?

I'm with Chris on that question...bet I find at least a roll in every bag I search..best place seems to be the corners of the memorial.

50 significant die cracks in a bag? Wow. I may find 1 in a box if any. I've sold a few large die cracks on ebay for $2-$3 each...

So nobody else has these file lines on their 2000?

If you call from the corner of the memorial to the rim significant...yes

Peaceman...I see lots of polish marks on cents too..enough that I don't pay attention to dates...but have noticed that the 80's were especially bad for these

Early die state is generally best for Lincoln varieties because it will give the clearest depiction of RPMs and doubled dies. For varieties such as the 2000 Wide AM, it is so common and obvious(magnification not needed) that die state does not really matter.

Thanks for the feedback Biokemist6

Cracks from the corner to the rim aren't reallty significant (to me anyways) They don't command a premium. I've found something like this does however where it becomes a chip:

Peaceman, don't get me wrong...I encourage everyone to collect what they like whether it has value or not...heck if enough people get interested, things go up in value. And yes, that is a cool crack you just posted. The best uses of scratches for me comes when discerning a fake such as the 72 DDO-1.But I've also identified 99 WAM's or RDV-006 dies using scratches. As bio pointed out, it is usually the scarcer coins when it becomes important.
