Both of my local coin shops have similar fees for bullion:

Gold Eagles = $65 over spot
Silver Eagles = $4.25 over spot

High? Low? Good? Bad? I'm too new to PM to really know.

The premiums that you quoted are on the low end of what I personally have seen. They are in business to make money and I don't think those premiums are out of line by any means.

I wonder if a dealer can make say 25 bucks on every Eagle sold and say 10 bucks on every Silver Eagle, would that be enough to keep the bills paid and the doors open?

Seems like to me, it would be tough today to own a shop, pay rent and overhead, and personal bills, and have enough left to stay in bus. This is why I don't mind ebay getting a bit. They did create the best online auction site on the planet, and to me, the overhead is reduced big time if one only sells from home. Then your overhead is just product cost, Internet an electricity, and shipping and ebay fees, just my worthless 2 cents, lol....

Your $0.02 is never worthless, IMO, Silverhawk. I appreciate your comments and find them to be on target pretty much all the time. Of course, that could also mean that we are both boneheads! lol
