I bought this old medieval coin from what I think is Lithuania, 1571?
But I do not have a catalogue for such old coins, so I hope someone can help me identify this coin with me. It weighs about 1.1 gr. and is 20mm.

Lithuania, indeed. Obverse inscription MONETA SIGISMUNDI and I would've read the date as 1511. Reverse inscription MAGNI DUCIS LITUANIE or something similar. Unfortunately, I don't have a 1500s catalogue either.

It's definitely a "grand duke Sigismind", but unfortunately that doesn't help us with the date; Sigismund II ruled in 1511, Sigismund III in 1571. However, after the Union of Lublin in 1569, I believe Lithuanian coins always bore some reference to the king's Polish titles, and vice-versa; on that basis, the earlier date would be my assumption.

Thanks guys, I agree that it is indeed the 1/2 Groschen Lithuania, 1511 from Sigismund I. I payed around €10 for it, so I was wondering if I might overpayed it.? And how nice does it look for this age?

Awsome I thought I saw several lookalikes on ebay for around $20 and up, but I wasnt sure it was real or valuable.. But since I had the money to spend it, I just bought it on pure guts. I like the coin, and it makes me want to buy more of them
