The Canadian Mint has announced the 1/2 ounce silver wolves program is officially ended!! This will make this a one year type coin with NO more to come. While the program was a success they have decided it wasn't the blockbuster they anticipated and feel the collectors of the world prefer one ounce coins? The series, when it began this year, was to be an annual bullion coin with design changes every year but that will not happen as the silver wolf has ended. Quite frankly I really liked the design and was looking forward to continuing the wolf series. Now I am turning to ebay to build my wolf pack as only 150,000 were made and I am sure when word gets out the hype will go through the roof, along with prices, so I intend to grab a few NOW! Really hate to see this end especially if silver prices would continue to reach new levels! So, if any of you are looking for wolves you had better react pretty quickly as we all know what is coming now.

They are an incredibly attractive coin, I can't understand why they weren't more successful?

Well, the Canadian Mint claims they were successful but feel the demand is stronger for a one ounce coin, which is probably true. I felt the design was a very strong draw as many collectors are attracted to the wolf and sales did exceed their expectations with over 150,000 sold but 200,000 to 250,000 was their goal so they have decided to halt the program as well as the new designs they were planning for the future. Quite honestly I think the series will return in a one ounce version as the Canadian Mint knows very well how strong wildlife designs perform for them. None the less the 1/2 ounce wolf is now a ONE YEAR type coin which cannot be over looked and should perform well in the years ahead. I bought 6 more just yesterday so my wolf pack is getting a little larger!

Picked up a couple today for the kids (9 year old and a 3 year old)at Christmas. Was gonna just buy them raw, but found a couple of ngc ms68's for not much more. The plastic means the kids can hold them without much worries, so I figured why not.

Hi Guys, Given this topic, what should I expect to pay (ball park) for these coins at this time? I want to get 5 or 6. Plus where would be a good place to find them ebay, or a mail order store*? *Any recommendations? Peace, ST~

The prices are currently rising, but the ones I have bought this last week were from 7 to 10 dollars apeice. Now would definitly be a good time to buy them,as Terry has said, these prices will probably explode.I think they are going on ebay now around 12-15 dollars,if not higher. :) sn31.

Check the prices in a Coin World ad and go from there. ebay is an option but a dealer with a bunch of coins in stock may be a cheaper option at this time. When the word FINALLY gets out concerning the end of this series prices will go up (they have started already) so I would act pretty quickly. Good luck!

I own one, thanks to the generosity of a CCF member. Will probably give it up in that our oldest son is a collector and really likes wolves.
Terry, Where is the best place to buy more?

I managed to get one on ebay for CAN$14, got a few other items (Toronto hologram, QE2 80th 25c, 2006 roll of 5c without mintmarks) to make it all worth while as seller only accepted cash, bank cheques and personal cheques. Being in Australia, that made it a little more difficult with fees for the bank cheque plus the postage and insurance from Toronto to Brisbane. But I will be a happy little kangaroo when my wolf arrives.
