I have made a couple of purchases from Provident in the past, via two silver rounds, and 1 gold panda at 1/20th an oz.. Brand new mint sealed products, fast shipping. Rarely do I find better deals on ebay the time you figure up the totals.... I never seem to hear to many mention the Philharmonic series, seems a bit under the radar, but I like them. I think they are real nice gold 24k coins for the price, esp since a 1/10th right now is listed at 168.01, and the Austria Corona below it (Is it 1/10th oz. as well?), is listed at $160.43. shipping cost for me (insured gold fast standard 2 to 3 days on other two orders), is $8.95.... http://www.providentmetals.com/bull...-g-phil.htmlI like these silver rounds listed at 37 an some change right now, with $5.95 freight, breaks down to 43 an some change, and believe it or not, I actually saw the nicer coins like the prospector drop 10 cents while looking at this page below.... http://www.providentmetals.com/bull...-ozt-rd.htmlRof , the prices on the gold dropped to $166, and $159 for the two Philharmonics mentioned above, as I clicked on link after posting to make sure I pasted the correct one, that is good stuff.... I should have dumped my 40% last week, could have locked in a great price especially since they all came from circulation. I got too greedy and was looking for a magic # that did not get reached.

Most of my purchases have been through providentmetals.com. I've always been more than satisfied with them. With prices now, I think I may jump in some gold, even if it's a 1/10 oz.

Been a crazy week for sure. Red all over every trading board today with pretty much every investment sector down. This is not a game for the faint of heart.

Sold my silver awhile ago when it was climbing at $39, and I was kind of sad I didn't wait, but if I had sent my silver out to the refinery when it was at $49, it would have fallen by the time they processed it!

For those of us who collect silver rounds, bars, and coins, falling prices are the best news we could get. Since we do not plan to sell any time soon, a falling silver price just means that we can get more for our money when we make our routine purchases.

I bought a roll of silver eagle for 840$ which at the time was a great deal, and then these tyhings start selling for 1100$, and now the price dropped again. But I'm not worried, I bought these coins in case I needed to sell them, which I won't need to do for another 20 years or more.
Silver will go back up, might be a month, might be 10 years. But I'm I'm liking this drop. I have bought about 30 ozs the past 6 months or so. I think this time around, though, I am going to go for a silver etf, much easier to sell... and I tend to get attached to my coins lol

If you go the ETF route, just make sure you know how it works. ETF's can be a mine field and can wind up costing you a lot if you're not careful. Just sayin'!

There are MANY ways to structure an ETF. Some of them are not at all small investor friendly, have nasty tax implications, or have other problems that should be avoided. Best idea is to get a copy of the prospectus and read it VERY carefully. Then read it again and make notes. If it still seems a good idea at that point, then you can put some money into it. While I do like physical silver for its beauty and potential value as a financial insurance policy / inflation fighter, an ETF is a lot faster and easier to buy and sell than physical silver. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. Best of all, this is not an either or proposition. A person CAN own both of them and be happy with what they bring to the financial table.
