Hi

i was looking at some silver charts and it looks like the chart is starting to display similarities to the 1980 price where it spiked to 50 per oz.....then crashed..

What do you think?

The 10 year trend line for silver puts it at $27 at present. If the current price is above trend, there is more probability that the price will fall. Conversely, if the current price is below the trend line, there is more probability that the price will rise.

No crash. Periodic pullbacks. Dynamics and fundamentals are all different than 1980, not the least of which is no Hunt brothers are in the mix now.

i supppose if there was a reversal in the USD then this would be bad for silver.

We can all learn from the Hunt brothers. Don't buy on margin even if it's a sure thing.

silver has gone from about $18 to $35 since August 2010 to March 2011. That means the price has nearly doubled in 6 months. Thats pretty impressive.

kitco has up to the minute updates.

I dont' think we'll see the crash like int he 80's, maybe a pull back from new highs when it meets resistance at 40, 50, etc, but I believe silver is still very underpriced.

Agree with the others, this run up doesn't seem to be the same as the Hunt brothers...but sometimes we don't know what's going on behind the scenes so the possibility always exists.

had a look at kitco. can only find a chart with data for a maximum of 25 years of data. Seems odd how one cannot find data for 100 years...

I think we are in a different dynamic than the 1980s were the Hunt bros tried to corner the market on silver. No one person is doing that now.

I just got into precious medals (specifically silver), right at the beginning of the new year, and in just a little over 8 weeks silver has went from 27 to 36 an oz....

So, if it stays on the upward pace it is on, it should hit 50 an oz before summer....
