Got together today with a rookie detectionist on his home turf. A retired high school teacher. So, I get to teach the teach. The Gods of UPS were so kind to deliver his Ace250 this morning. I just ran the basics with him in his back yard...and he finds a zinc penny...with his new toy! Now he wants to hunt real places...! We hit two parks and find a few coins and the usual junk. I gave him some tips on the functions of the ace and some tips on the pinpointing feature. It looked like he was having fun...!

He ended up with $2+ and I ended up just short of $2 but I did find 1 wheat..1944d and a 14k white gold hoop earring...doesn't weigh much...I thought..went 2.26 grams on my scale! I'll take it! I'll just add it to the big pile of gold I got...a pile of "2"!

Here's the hoop with the wheat in the background...

Teaching-A-Teacher...and-A-Nice-Little-Gold-Score!

A car ran it over in a gravel parking lot...HUNT GRAVEL PARKING LOTS!

Here's a close up of "14K"

Yep...I found a cool site for calculating gold. When I first saw the earring barely sticking up out of the gravel...first thought was more junk jewelry. I've found like 20 or so hoop ones like this. All were junk...but I kept seeing some writing in the post...it was hard to see outside..so I had my fingers crossed until we got back...funny thing was I thought it weighed close to nothing until I weighed it on my digital scale...I then took the gold ring I found 3 weeks ago and weighed that one..the earring weighed not too much less...wow...heavier than I thought! I love gravel parking lots...or anywhere people park...I always hit it hard...beside the hoop I think we got 10 pennies also in this lot. I like pennies too!

This is a story about a find in the goldfields Hoosier a mate of mine (Dave)found this and sorry no photo, the story go's as such (but sadly Dave is in hospital in a comer after a very bad car accident I pray that he recovers).
He was swinging the coil over a part of an already thrashed gold field when he received a faint signal in the ground,as he dug into the dirt this small piece of chain lay on the side of the hole so he reached down as there was enough chain to pickup between his fingers and he then pulled at the chain,to his surprise the chain keep coming out of the ground,a foot later the fob watch chain was out of the ground all complete with the links stamped 18K.
So as you can see there is still a lot of treasure buried in the ground to be found so don't forget to swing low and slow and be safe while your swinging.
regards Harry
