So I've been browsing the forum recently.

I am looking to buy my first piece of gold, and it seems that most people recommend maples, eagles, and krugs

I personally like the panda, and find it has a higher premium when selling

What's everyones opinion on pandas...good buy or not?

pandas are nice....WATCH THE FAKES....heavily faked coin due to the premiums and collectors interet in them.....if your buying from a reputable dealer go for it, if your not familiar with the dealer id only get a certified slab from well known graders....if your spending that kind of money on gold bullion you need to make sure your getting pure .999 fine gold and not a fake....(i like the pandas too and have a couple in my collection. I bought them all from APMEX so I'm sure they are real)

Like Flook said, as long as you know you are getting the real deal, then Panda's are great to have. The Chinese love them, and that means many collectors obviously, and they seem to increase in value fast....

If you are thinking of entering the realm of Pandas read this web site first!http://pandacollector.com/ They have a whole section on fakes and how to identify them and it is complete with a gallery.

My opinion on Pandas is that they are a bit pricey but the wife loves them so we have quite a few of them. Just be very careful when purchasing, especially from ebay!

(Edit) I added the link to the site I was refering too
Now this post may be of so help.

If you like the Pandas go for it. I like the Maple leaf and would personally get one of those first but that's just me.

Another one of my favorite is the Pamp Suisse - Lady Fortuna 1 oz bar. .999 sealed. They also sell for a higher premium.

Good luck & buy from a reputable dealer who will stand behind the bullion they sell.
