weird, your link works but the other one that was working says it was removed. I can't believe that camera went for that amount, I have never seen one go for so much before. Sorry you are having so much bad luck with this. Maybe someone else will chime in with a camera they have used and got good results with if you do not get what it is you think you may have now

ClinkinKY, if you can get your mailing address to me I'll send along (gratis) my JVC, same model as Bryan's. Not sure if you can do PM with the number of posts you have? I've got 2 SLR's now and 3 point n shoots. Although it served me well, don't think I'll be needing it. Sounds like you do.

Quote: I've got 2 SLR's now and 3 point n shoots WOW you are big timing it now aint ya? That is very nice of you to send him your camera and I am sure it will do what he is trying to do with it. If I can be of any assistance in helping you two contact each other let me know and I will do what I can. Of course I would need each members permission before I give the other their email address or what ever. But if you two find you can not contact each other just post on here that you are having a problem and that you would like for me to send the other person your email address you have signed up with on the forum and I will send it to that other member. I love the way our members help out each other like this, really does make it feel like a family instead of just a forum (and not a dysfunctional family like the one I grew up in either, a Waltons type of family, for the yunguns this was an old tv show that played when I was a kid)

Sure Bryan you can go ahead and forward him my email address if he's interested and if he contacts me, we're in business. I had checked forum rules regarding PM's and # of posts but couldn't find anything. Maybe just missed it somehow but I think I remember seeing it mentioned by other posters. BTW, the Waltons didn't come on TV until I was already growed up. LOL

Wow, thank you Sidekick and Bryan. I have contacted Sidekick through email with my address. It seems I've found a very generous and helpful forum. Either of you have any extra gold or silver laying around you don't need. Thank you both.

Just wanted to thank you, Bryan and Sidekick, for your help and generosity. I've joined a few different coin forums, as I'm relatively new to the hobby again after being away for approx. 45 years, but I think I've "found a home".

ClinkinKY, camera arriving your end this Friday according to the PO. Hoping you'll get some good results with it. Maybe you can share some after you get the hang of it.

I will most certainly do that. I even know what coin (I hope) to be shooting. It seems this has been my week. First your unbelievably generous act with the camera, and just yesterday a woman I work with knows that I'm into coins and brought a few "loose coins" she had. There were 3 Ike dollars and a Peace dollar, which she planned to "give me". I took one look at the Peace dollar and told her I couldn't "take it". It is a 1928 which appears to be in at least VF condition (in my limited knowledge of grading going by the parameters in the Red Book). I explained that she could probably get at least $250-$400 from a coin shop and suggested that she take it there, get their offer and I would match it, plus 10 percent. She plans to do this. I asked her where she got it. She said that her brother, about 30 years ago, was doing some type of demolition work and after knocking out a wall found a coffee can with "a bunch of old silver dollars". He gave one each to his siblings and nieces and nephews. I just wonder what other specimens were in that coffee can and plan to ask her if her siblings and nieces and nephews could possibly still have them and want to sell them. Anyway, sorry to be so verbose but like I said, this has been a good week

here are the settings I gave sidekick when he got his camera, it may help you also Quote: Here are the steps I use when I am getting ready to take a picture on the camera. I put it in Manual mode, then I will click the display button (this will show you the settings), The frame is set to 2032x1536, quality is set to fine, q.review is on, w.balance is set to MWB, sens. Is 160, AF/AE is set to spot. Those are my settings. I will go down to WB and click the over button which will put it in program mode for WB then I get a clean white piece of paper and turn my lamp on and hold the exe button until the green light quits flashing green, the camera will then go back to show you the settings again. I hit the display button 3 times to bring the little square for spot focus and then push the macro button on top of the camera. I will then zoom in and it will auto focus or if I am going to take a shot of the whole coin I half press the shutter button and the green light will flash while focusing and stay green once it has focused and then fully press the button to take the picture. If you try these and need any more help please let me know and hopefully I will have the answer to help you but that is pretty much all I do to take the pictures. I do have to resize the pictures for the forum but if you use a picture hosting site you probably will not have to do that but that has nothing to do with the camera. Experiment with lighting angles to get the best results for you and as long as you set the WB each time I have found it really doesn't matter what kind of bulb you use, I just had the reveals here so that's what I used in my lamp Just remember this isn't a dSLR camera or anything but you will find it does a great job of showing just about any detail you want to show on a coin and takes pictures good enough for the web of just about anything. In my opinion it is the best camera I have ever owned for the price and does allot better than some I have seen that had allot more MP than the 3.3 this camera has

I'll tell you what - that bottom image, the date detail, is just staggering for a cheap camera.
