I'm not sure I understand this post. Are you asking if this is a good camera for shooting coins? It looks to be a nice performer, but with very little manual control. So, although it might take nice coin shots, you will have to arrange everything into the one small sweet spot it will have because the camera will be deciding how to shoot, not you.

if I were looking for a P&S camera two things I would make sure it had is a manual white balance and a macro setting. If it doesn't have that it is hard to get a good coin picture. I used a 3.3 MP JVC camera for many years as my only camera for coin shots and it did a very good job for a 25.00 camera and I have seen people pay way more and get far less quality coin pictures. Now this camera wasn't the greatest when it came to shooting everything else but on coins I could get as close as anyone would need to get to show details of what I am seeing. Here are a couple shots from this camera

Thanks Bryan for listing the link to this camera. I just bought it for $20.00. I hope I'm able to achieve the quality of photos that you were.

ClinkinKY, Bryan pointed me to this same camera a few months ago and I was not disappointed, especially given the price. Fantastic for super-macro shots. You're gonna love it.

that QX5 has features that the qx3 that sidekick and myself has doesn't have that should make it do even better then what we can accomplish. I read the manual and it says it has a few modes the qx3hd doesn't have

Quote:
6M Pro-Still (Pixel Shift Mode) (GC-QX5HD
only)
This mode collects twice as much image data by using two exposures (with the CCD shifted one pixel for the second exposure), resulting in an image consisting of 6 million pixels, or twice as many in normal mode

Quote:
DR Pro-Still (Wide Range Mode) (GC-QX5HD
only)
This mode uses two exposures, one with the exposure adjusted for the dark portions of the image, and one with the exposure adjusted for the bright portions of the image. By using the image data from both exposures, it is possible to achieve a
wide dynamic range that was previously impossible. This mode avoids pictures where part of the image is blacked out or whited out, which occurs easily with conventional digital cameras.
so I would really like to see some pictures taken with it when you get it. I can give you a few pointers on how I have mine set up with what settings to get you started if you would like. I had bought other Point and shoot cameras after this one and none could get close to the quality I can get with the Qx3HD even though they doubled or even tripled MP this camera has.

Deltron, they come up for sale some times on ebay usually for around the 15-30 dollar range just as this one did because they are so old. so if you keep looking I am sure there will be another one on there before long

Well, guess I'll have to look for another one. Just got a "refund" because the seller "thought" that the original buyer had reneged. Turns out he didn't so I'm looking again. The "other buyer" had one bid, 50 cents higher than mine in the last minute of bidding. I'm quite new to ebay bidding so I guess I'll have to look into one of those "sniping" programs.

Dern, the auction hasn't been over very long. what did the seller do wait 5 minutes and since the bidder didn't automatically pay him he decided they weren't going to and offer it to the under bidder? I am not sure I would have wanted to do business with a seller like that anyway because just because someone doesn't pay right then doesn't mean they aren't going to, sometimes it takes a couple days for some buyers to pay but thats just the ebay game. AS I said above I am sure there will be others if you keep looking for them for about the same price

looks like they removed that listing instead of being sniped because it is no longer a valid item number. I am going to be honest here, I bought 3 or 4 different cameras after this one thinking they would be better because they had more megapixels but none of them ever came close to the macro shots this camera supplied. I had tried sony, canon and olympus point and shoot (don't remember the model numbers of them since I sold them off afterwards) but each of them fell very short of the capabilities of the JVC in my opinion and in every opinion I received when trying to show the other camera's pictures on here while testing them. If I happen to find another one some time soon I will just email it to you instead of posting it in here. I will also email you a few secrets about ebay bidding once I find another one also to maybe help you get the next one that shows up on ebay
