The BEST way to preserve your coins is let your youngest start and manage his / her own collection. That way, they will take an interest in caring for their collection, and eventually, in the fullness of time, your collection, too.
When my sister was a kid I gave her a few moderate value starter coins but I did NOT direct her collecting preferences in any way. I made sure that if she wanted a particular coin, she would have to earn it, but it was hers, and hers alone. She has developed her own collection for over 30 years now. Would you believe I also started my mother collecting! My sister and myself split her collection, which was valued at some thousands, out of her estate.
Just don't be overbearing if they develop a different collecting direction to yourself. See if it is possible to get your other kids interested. That way, you can split your collection evenly when you eventually kick the bucket.
For encouragement, I suggest that you may have to provide the best storage you consider viable for the their collection. The bulk of my collection is in 2 x 2 cardboard Mylar holders in ring binder albums.
