I had thought the offset clashes would be the outer clashes often seen such as the "O" and "D" above the liberty's head...but VAM 19 shows mostly dies scratches so I'm not sure what you mean for lateral clashes?...

I pulled my gauge out and took a picture of the front and back of it (even with misspelled "DIE CLASH GUAGE", always bothers me every time I look at it which is weird as much as I misspell words myself but if I were making something to sell to others I would make sure the spelling was correct). As you can see in the picture there is a center plastic rivet (for lack of a better word) which allows the front and rear to turn independently so you can see where the clash would happen if the dies were rotated
