General question and comments

I notice that sometimes folks are selling UN opened boxes (very recent releases) from the US Mint OR other sources where they get the coins from.

The UN opened boxes contain one's personal info and I understand the little extra premium etc...

My 2 cents -- Personally there is no way I would sell something to a total stranger with my info in the box regardless of price.

I would like to hear others opinions especially from those who have sold OR bought OR thinking about selling etc.

Admin / Mod -- Please move the post if this needs to reside elsewhere.

Thanks

Same here. When I received my package from the mint, all my info was on an invoice inside the package.

You have it wrong...example:
When you order mint sets their are in a sealed box, that box is sent within another box with the invoice.

Not sure who would take the chance buying anything without seeing the product. I wouldn't. Those type of boxes are to easily opened and glued shut again. With a Hot Wheel car you can see the item inside but with a cardboard box with who knows what inside, it's really scarry to buy one sight unseen.

I have never understood why people would pay a premium for coins/sets that have not been opened. I suppose it is a spillover from the toy collectors; but with toy packaging, one can usually see what is inside (because of the clear packaging).

Personally I want to see what is inside. I bought the coin (or coins), not the shipping container. I have not met an "sealed in the box" proof set or roll of coins that I have not busted open.

I think the only reason to buy unopened boxes is if its a special set that can be pieced together or to get early release slab. Both of these are only if you are getting the coins graded by a TPG
