Hello,

My grandfather gave me an 1884 Morgan silver dollar when I was quite young.

It is an O mint, and the cardboard holder has MS64 written on it.

Any idea of what I may be able to get if I was to sell it?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers.

I just payed $48 plus shipping for a MS 64 1884-O a few weeks back. Mine was graded by ANACS. I thought I got a great deal so they might be worth more. An NGC graded MS 64 calls for $169 in their price guide.

It would help if you could post a clear photo of it.
In a cardboard holder it is ungraded raw coin. The former owner had the opinion that it was MS 64. Others could vary. How much you could get depends on the opinion of the buyer. One sure way to foind the answer to your Q is to list it on ebay with clear photos

the 84 is one of the more common Morgans and easy to find in a fairly high grade

1884-O is not a hard to find date and just because it says MS-64 on the cardboard flip doesn't mean that is the grade the buyer will put it as, if it were graded at MS-64 by PCGS or NGC it may bring 90-100 dollars but I would expect 50-70 raw like yours is now. If it actually grades lower then the price would drop also

I think everyone covered your question.

However, in my little corner of the world here in Silverdale, Washington, I can buy NGC MS64 84 Os and other common date Morgans (same grade) for 70 bucks, all day.

All,

Thanks for the quick responses. Very much appreciated. This is very helpful.

Yeah, as far as I know, my grandfather never had it officially graded. So I'm not quite sure how accurate the MS64 grade is. MS64 is written in his (or someone else's) chicken scratch that is on the coin holder.

Your responses, though, give me a general ballpark of the value.

Thanks again.
