1976 S Ike Dollar Silver Or No Silver?

The Bicentennial S-mint coins in the 3 coin Mint Set are 40% silver. The proofs in the 3 coin Proof Set are also silver but the Ike in the regular six coin Proof Set is CuNi clad. That being said, that coin is probably not silver. It is probably a hazed over proof from the six coin proof set. Those pictures make that coin look like an Unc Ike from the 3 coin Mint Set. It does not have any visible characteristics of a proof coin but the matte surface is a dead ringer for a Mint Set coin. Without the reverse diagnostics, you could never convince me from photos only that it is a proof. Report this Post to the Staff
