Not sure if this is in the correct forum as there is no Comm. grading forum. This is one of another comm. that is from my step dads collection. I personally can trace it back quite a ways but was not sure of the overall strike attributes on these. It's in a flip marked Unc. with a price of $10.00 :)
Never been cleaned that much I can say. It seems to show no
wear and the images are scans so not so great detail wise etc. but without knowing about the dies details back then on this piece I was trying to get some input. I have seen pics. of others that were listed as unc's and they also seemed to show a lack of detail. Mostly on the rev. in the center area of the old belfry. I live only about 30 mins. from lexington/concord ma. so I like the coin/comm.
Thanks

Without seeing any luster, I could not go above EF. It looks like there is a little wear on the high points. If there is still luster present, it could sneak into AU.

... the photo is tough to grade from ... I suppose XF/AU depending on original mint luster.

Truly ... need to see these coins in hand to judge ... soooo ... you have it .... what is the state of luster?

Thanks Bio
Not much luster left in hand. I did see a very nice one though
(pro pics. etc.) and could see the luster on it. The details
though looked the same. I realize luster affects what one sees
on the details. I also was curious about history and wanted to try and find out when this coin was graded/flipped. Maybe the price listed on it along with what the grader thought was an unc. coin as well as when this type of coin flip was first made and used for coins. Put all those factors together then one should get a pretty accurate flip date. Once again I personally know the history (owners) of this coin so I can get a general idea of at least how long it has been in this particular flip. But cannot nail it down exactly. I also have no clue to the strike quality of these and die states etc. nor mintage figures. That belfry
still bugs me. Details not great on any other higher unc's that I have seen. Oh well ! no great big deal one way or another. Just wanted some input so I can price it for sale.
If coin flips have been around for over 7 decades then this coin sat in the same one for at least that long. If not it was placed in another flip later on and improperly graded.
The $10.00 price tag at Unc. (assuming) would be a clue.
Most likely would of been the coins numismatic value not just the silver.
