I got the Grizzly off ebay for 41 free shipping, and the panda off APMEX, so the premium was a bit high - it was 185

Nice! One (or two in this case) piece at a time, like the old show one day at a time, sorry a weee bit before your time, check google or nick at night ! You could search all day for a 1/20th gold Panda on ebay, and would be real lucky to get it for much less than what Provident offers. Their flat rate $8.95 shipping for gold is what kills me in my zip anyway. Like a 1 oz. silver round from there is just $5.95 shipping seems like, and it has more bulk and mass than most gold coins. I think it is the insurance in the end on the gold perhaps....

Wow $19.95 eh.... I agree with most all you say Ed, but I am not a fan of APMEX even though not fair to say as I have never made a purchase from there as of yet. It just seems like everything I search for there is way over priced, and I can always find it elsewhere for cheaper at ebay etc.. Then I have not been buying pre 64 90% silver like yourself, which could be a great deal from there. In the end, neither you or I seem to mind paying a bit more for good products, esp from trusted name like APMEX. You know with their new products you are getting a REAL piece of silver or gold in top notch shape, so that is all that matters in the end. A couple five spots either way will not matter in a decade or two, is the way I look at it.... Like bickering over spilled milk, or my grandfather's major frugal self, yelling at my grandmother for buying cokes at Kroger's when she could have drove ten miles further down the road and got them for 50 cents less a 12 pack at another store, rof ! Oh well, I am gonna miss the ol guy, as he is in his last days, hospice nurse and all. Bed ridden waiting for what we are all born to do....

Yep, $19.95. On the other hand, they are one of the premier dealers out there with a... sterling... reputation, so maybe that is worth a little more. I usually buy in amounts of $600-800, so the shipping cost is not that large as a percentage. Do I wish it was less? Sure do. Would I buy a little more if it was less? Maybe, maybe not. As you say, in terms of silver prices, this will disappear pretty fast with even a small rise in the price of silver. I would be open to a good deal from another source. I would consider ebay or even Craig's List... with due precautions, of course. But the quality of those good deals would have to be high.
