I was wondering if anyone else saw this.....apmex is selling 4 oz 2011 american silver eagles.....the reverse of the eagle says 1/4 pound, but really the weight is 1/3 troy pound? also they mention that it is not an official u.s. mint product, so who made it?......just wondering what this item is all about and whether its a waste of money or something that could potentially be a neat collector piece down the road.......let me know your thoughts

personally a waste, I would rather buy 4 ASE for what there asking over spot per oz. Hard sell down the road. Also a regular pound has 16 oz while a troy pound is 12 troy oz
Rest in Peace

an avoirdupois # (butcher #) is 16 oz*437.5 grains, or 7000 grains
a troy # (PM #) is 12 oz*480 grains or 5760 grains

To the original ?, doesn't matter who made them, they're not coins. The confusion over oz/# is enough to avoid them.
