I have this coin which I would like to identify. It's by far the oldest of a widely varied small collection. Aside from the obvious markings can anyone help with more details than can be read on the coin itself. It's approx 1.25" across and 1/8" thick or so.
This appears to be a Sestertius of the emperor Hadrian. The obverse legend is:HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS and the reverse is: COS III SC. Neputne standing left with his foot on a prow holding an Aplustre and Trident.
Thank you very much, that's very helpful! Would you perhaps be able to tell me the likely material it is made from, or if it is possible to be a fake? Sorry for being so demanding - just rather curious!
