I've wanted to buy a confederate note of some type for a long time, but have avoided it due to the number of fakes out there. Anyways, I made my weekly round to the coin shop I frequent this morning and the guy I deal with had this $10 note. The guy felt confident that it's authentic, and he's never steered me wrong before. It's obvious that the note was scissor cut, and shows no immediate signs (to me at least)of being counterfeit. The thing that concerns me is that there is no serial number, and no signatures. Is this a sign of a phony, or was it just never released for circulation? If it turns out to be fake, it's not a big deal because the dealer will give me my money back (don't find those often) I just want to verify authenticity in case I ever decided to trade/resell it.
