It's seen some abuse but an interesting piece.

Indeed it is. I read on-line that Colorado had a silver and gold coinage law that is similar to that of the recently passed Utah law. Is this considered a coin or a medallion? If a coin, is it legal tender?

It is a one ounce piece with no $ value. I like how it says "use silver to restore prosperity".

Four different designs of Colorado's Century of Progress so-called dollars were issued at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, HK-867 through HK-870. Your example is HK-870, the most common type with a mintage of 10,000.

Thank you for the great follow up on this piece. By far it is of the best design in the four listed in the article. A cool piece of history.

Very cool piece, 90% silver I am guessing?

I wonder just how bad the economy was in Colorado right there around the great depression. Must have not been to bad, since it was the Worlds fair, I am sure that must have generated much for the area in those days....

I'm not sure of the true composition it just says "one ounce of pure silver". Also (via the link provided by biokemist6) it was distributed at the worlds fair in Chicago. It remains a treasured piece in my collection.

Very nice post of the larger images. I would not quite make out the word "restore" in the smaller images. Good pics!
