I don't think its counterfeit and agree with the VAM-19 attribution, which pretty much cancels out the counterfeit suggestion (unless it was a cast copy of a VAM-19 which this definitely isn't) I think this would probably grade MS-64 if it is uncirculated but to be honest I think it may have lightly circulated just because as SuperDave mentioned VAM-19 was the first striking of this die and there are usually no flat spots like you see on this coin on a VAM-19 unless it is circulated. I know some scanners can cause a coin to look flat and have no luster but never seen a scanner cause details to look flat. f its circulated I would probably say AU-55-58 no lower and as was said above if Uncirculated I could not go any higher than MS-64 from these photos

where are you talking about it being flat? I'm looking at the coin and the details do pop out.

the hair detail right above the ear is usually the first place that gets worn on Morgans on the Obverse. 1878's can have flatness in this area and still be Uncirculated but its usually because the dies have been used so much and that bis why I said with it being a VAM-19 (the first striking from this die) I wouldn't expect to see this flatness in this area

I did not meen I thought it is a counterfeit.

If one did not know it was authentic it does not have the chrisp detail of most morgan strikes.

I agree 100% with the attribution. It is a good call by SuperDave.

Bryan1315 I couldn't have said it better my self.
