the porosity of the coin makes me question authenticity but I do not know the series well enough to really comment with any degree of certainty one way or the other

It does not look genuine to me. The pattern it's worn out makes me think it's a fake. Yet I'm not a specialist.

fake, mushy details and porous surfaces are red flags.

The rim of this coin tells me that it was not struck in an open collar screw press so there should be no doubt that it is a counterfeit.
