The 2 coins below came from the same roll. The roll had a total of 8 errors with a strike through in the same location. The only difference was that each coin had a slightly different shape and depth on the strike thru. I could only afford to buy one Graded and one Raw coin from the dealer, but here they are. It makes for a really cool pair of coins and as I understand it this kind of error on a Silver Eagle is rare. Do you think that NGC would Grade and Slab both together as an error progression? As always, let me know what you think. ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Good question as I have a pair of 2006 LMC's with the same type error. Would think it best to have them in a double slab.

Most struck through debris errors would not be worth the cost of slabbing. However, Silver Eagle errors of any kind are fairly rare so I think it would probably be worthwhile to get them both graded. NGC has multi-coin holders and I think that would be a perfect display for an error pair. Any particular reason why ANACS gave it s 63? That is a really low grade for a coin that will usually be 65+, maybe a bit of net grading in play because of the divot.

Yeah, no idea on the grade. The dealer I bought them from had it graded. I gave $100 for the pair back in '92. I'll send them both to NGC for a graded pair holder. As far as counting off for the error, I have MS-67 Error Quarters and a PR-68 Quarter struck through a string, so I'm lost. Maybe it'll come back with a higher grade. *crossing fingers*

Two pieces as a progression? No. Two coins does not make a progression. If you had all eight, maybe. And NGC doesn't offer the multi-coin holder any longer. Possible exception may be to a few authorized dealers. Just checked multi-coin holders are only available to bulk submitters.

Rats, but Thanks for letting me know. I'll still send both in for grading. Maybe I have enough coins to send in as a Bulk submitter. I've bought error coins from the same dealer for the last 20 years, maybe he knows how I could do this. I have several sets that would be progressions and understand why 2 wouldn't be. It would just be nice if I could tie in the fact that both coins are from the same debris and struck at the same time. I had a friend tell me that this couldn't happen. He said the coins couldn't be from debris that stuck to the die. He said they were just the same kind of error, but I saw all eight and I know they were the same die pair. Anyone know a bulk submitter that might want to work with me?

You might try calling NGC customer service and asking if they will slab the two in a multi-coin holder. Information about their multi-coin holder is a bit confusing and at odds with it self. The information about it nly being available to bulk submitters comes from theor news releases, but their list of services still lists it being available to anyone.

Interesting for SAEs. Keep us posted on how it goes. Got me interested in error SAEs now. Can't say I've ever seen one.

I got a letter back from NGC and they don't do multi-coin slabs anymore. If you have one and it's damaged, they will replace it, but other than that, no dice. I would really have liked both of these in the same slab. Guess I could tape them together or have a small custom frame made for both slabs.
That would be a neat way to do it. Have a frame with glass on both sides and have a custom mat cut to hold the coins in place. I've tried to find prices for this type of error, but it's hard to find anything that's the same. I've found these with a smaller strike through for $150 and a larger one (very cool) for $2200. I'll see what happens with the grading and go from there.
Thanks for your input.
