If it could be authenticated in some way it would be very valuable. But I see no indication that is even a Morgan, so I would have to pass as well. But a cool piece.

I am inclined to believe it is a silver dollar because if you look at the side view, you can tell that it was at one time a coin. The size and weight put it at a silver dollar, but you can't authenticate that it happened during the San Francisco earthquake. But I would definitely agree that it was a silver dollar at one time. It can also be determined to be 90/10 silver by a professional. I would also think that someone could also authenticate whether or not silver coins can react this way under intense heat. Maybe I'll put it on my watch list.

well I think severe heat would cause something that looks like this as I have seen coins that were in a house fire with similar bubbling type fields but on them you could tell denomination and series so this must have been a hotter fire than the one I saw a coin from
