Hi there I got this in a job lot.
on one side has a bust of Queen Anne with pearls hanging from the back of her hair.
it has
ANNA.DG.MAG.BRI.FR.ET.HIB:REG.
Written arround the edge.
On the other side has a standing Britannia with what looks like an olive branch in herright hand and a spear and shield in her right.
Sh appears to be on a beach with ships out at sea and an ary on the beach.
Arround the outside of the medallion reads
COMPOSITIS VEN.........I cant read the rest.
At the bottom is the roman numerals mdccxiii or 1753.
It is in the bottom of a small silver dish with hallmarks.
Should I have a crack at getting it out or leave it there?
Any ideas?

Also the Bust is verry raised and has .I.C. on the underside of the shoulder

Hi trout1105

ice medallion, I dont know anything about, but my only advice is not to get it out of the silver dish. You might harm it during this procedure, and you might find the rims are affected due to the attachment. I guess that getting it out will not increase the value of the medallion and will decrease the silver dish value for sure.

But this is still my opinion, so lets see what other members will say

I know nothing about the coin, its value, or how it would be placed or removed from the bowl. Assuming there is nothing extraordinary about this coin, if it was me, I would leave it as is. The coin is already ruined, so you might as well put the bowl to good use. That is an awesome bowl to throw your pocket change and keys into.

Granted if it is worth a bundle, I would have another opinion.

I agree both both above members, the coin is already devalued, and removing it, IMO will only make things worse. I feel, that IF the coin is a valuable one, why would it be mounted in a dish in the first place? Not very likely, I feel. Leave it all as is, enjoy it for what you have.
