Not sure if anyone out there has tried this beside the people I know but after seeing a few movies where they throw a coin into the air and shoot it in the air, it's just to much of a temptation not to try it. However, not being a super marksman with a handgun we just use .357 shot shells. They also come in .38, .22, 9mm that I not only know of, but use. Some time back we did a lot of that until I got old enough to realize we were damaging a nice coin. They left many round dents in the coins pending on the size of the shot. A .22 jaketed would do a lot more than that. We also tried that. We also put coins on RR tracks, Street car tracks, pitched at cracks in sidewalks, etc.
