I have a 3 paged hard cover album with a complete collection of NZ Florins. 14 of the older coins will fetch around $120 1933 -1946 as the silver content was high. The remaining 16 coins are cupro-nickel all in G to VG Condition. Could anyone give me an idea what would be the albums approx. worth. I do not have a chance to go to a dealer for an estimate and hoping someone could help out here. REegards Glendamelanie.

Hi Glendamelanie., to CCF!

According to the 1911 Edition of The New Zealand Coin and Banknote Catalogue, a full set of NZ florins 1933 - 1965 in average condition would cost $200, excluding varieties. That's the price the author/s would have asked for a set at the time of publication.

The thing is, the catalogue would have been prepared for printing before silver prices went nuts, so an additional sum would need to be added for all the silver coins.

Silver content of the 33-46 coins was 50% so just for those 12 coins, the current silver value each would be approx US$6.90.

glendamelanie: Welcome to the CCF! (Coin Comminity Family)

And it is a numismatic family, of sorts. Great to have a few more of the female persuasion. I started my mother and sister into this hobby over twenty years ago, and they are still quite active with their own collections.
