1943 uniface merc. 2.2 grams...Slightly smaller than normal diameter.
Struck on foreign silver metal planchet? Anything known? All responses welcome. Does not appear ground down. More info@ error and variety section. Can provide pics with help. Thanx...Gusp

If the size of this coin is not at least 10% greater than the real dime, then it's doubtful if it's made from actual silver.
My guess is that it is a copy that was made for jewelry or clothing purposes and somehow got out and on the market. But this is just a guess on my part.

Collar locks dimes diameter. How can planchet expand past the collars diameter? Did I miss something? Gusp

By being struck out of collar ,, this type of strike however usually results in a mis shaped coin with no reeding.

pics of the coin ?

since it only has one struck surface, I think Old Dan is on the right track,,it sounds like a cast copy of some kind.

Decent chance that it is a magicians gimic coin. If it is a shade smaller than a cent, they are usually made so that it fits easily into a honed out cent or similar coin. Then on one side you have the dime and on the other you have the cent. Parlor trick coin I suspect.
