Hey Moe... After the final smoke has cleared, what do you think about doing a "Top Five" or Gold/Silver/Bronze for the best overall collections. I supposed we can spot you the gold..

So for someone who hasn't adventured far into collecting yet (sticking to nickels) is there any benefit of starting a 7070? I've seen threads of people posting their own, but what's the actual point of this album? Hopefully I'm not the only one who doesn't know, just the only one to look dumb enough and ask the question!

What I appreciate about it is the research and learning of each type as I pursue them. I have only just begun, but it's really cool learning about them to decide which coin I want to represent that series with. I'm hoping seeing others and the discussion will help me with some of the one's I haven't researched yet.

If you decide to do a final set of awards for overall collections, how about keeping things in the numismatic ilk - namely Platinum, Gold, Silver, Nickel, CuNi, Bronze, and Copper.

lukkyseven, the point of the 7070 album is to acquire an example of each of the major type coins since most collectors don't have the resources to complete any or all of any of the various series of coins. The album is very versatile in that one can add a page for the modern coinage and the major gold types if so desired. A collector completing this album has really accomplished something which he or she can be very proud of regardless of the condition of the coins acquired for it. ANA LM-3175

So it's more or less just to gain better knowledge of US type coins? I mean I've seen them completed and I think it's pretty cool to have different coins in one binder like that. I keep seeing that they're expensive to complete even in lower grades.
Does Whitman or Intercept (or any other coin album makers) have albums like the 7070? I'm just curious, I'm sticking to Dansco, but it would be nice to know.
