I have a fellow member interested in purchasing this coin.
It's grade is VF-20/25 in my U.S. grading standards. Will even settle for VF-20 as far as I am concerned.
Maybe that is correct or maybe not if by canadian grading standards. Anyway or either way, I received this link on coin values from yet another member in regards to another post I had.

https://www.jandm.com/script/getite...CID=3&PID=97

I checked world coin gallery and the prices there were no where near the prices from above. They were much lower. I have no books on canadian coin values nor any other value guides. I want to give a fair price for this coin. Any help
would be appreciated. I checked ebay and found one coin for $14.00 and another EF for over $800.00. Jeesh, forget ebay
for help.

I plan on doing that but to the possible buyer first.
Just asking for help with the values at the moment.
This person asked first so I want to honor that request.
I'm not concerned about the grade so much as to just how the grades
equate to values. Maybe someone out there has some sources for canadian
coin values based on grades etc. I have none other than what I mentioned above.

Thank you.

The J and M link looks to be pretty close to trends... but I would have to want a coin pretty bad or it would have to have great eye appeal for me to pay even 90% of trends.

Prices at J&M are pretty much in line with Canadian trends prices.
Coins usually sell at dealers and shows for 70%-80%
On ebay 50%-80%

If the coin is as you say VF-20, book value is about $300
bare in mind that only 203,118 were minted and assuming there is a loss of 10% due to melt, loss, etc, you should be able to get book for it give or take..

The Canadian 1909 half is a highly underrated coin and very difficult to acquire in grades over AU-50. I've been stuck with an I.C.C.S., EF-40 for the past 10 years and can't seem to upgrade that easy. I'm in heat for an MS-60 but after looking at the 2010 I.C.C.S., Population Report there is only one known, perhaps that may be different in the 2011 Report? (can anyone confirm this, please?)
Total Mintstate examples are a mere 12 and total circulated known are less than 300. Bear in mind this is only I.C.C.S., I don't know the Raw stats or other T.P.G. stats, but most would be graded by now and I.C.C.S. would have most slabbed under their banner.
The latest C.C.N. prices are as follows: F-12=$100.00, VF-20=$300.00, EF-40=$800.00, AU-50=$1,800.00, MS-60=$3,500.00, MS-62=$6,500.00, and anything higher, you better win the Lottery fist before you even thing about it!

Glenn, chances are the better mint state strikes are in PCGS holders... Just peeking at the PCGS registry sets online, there are 6 in MS-62 with 8 more known to be better. I have not checked the NGC registry sets.

Thank you all. A great help. I have some scans so I better put them up at the grading forum. Seems canadian coins for some reason tend to grade differently than U.S. coins. Why,
i have no idea. So whatever it grades I will put a price on it
@ 90 percent of the J and M site. I think that would be fair for a start. Once again thanks all.
