Hello, Newbie here 1mo. While getting familiar with my Ace 350. I started out in my back yard, I pulled a lot of different nails, Metal Brackets, Bottle Caps, Seems the lady that lived here before us liked to bury nails by all the plants. Well I got a back and forth signal at 6" sure enough it was an Austrian coin from 1954. One ft away from that was a Navy Button. I posted the pics below. Still have a lot of yard left to do. I've been getting a lot of false readings but I think its due to having my sensitivity to high. I only turn off two bars, but I read on another post you should search with two three bars when starting out. So I'll let you know how the rest of the yard comes out. If you have any advice please share.

I have a Bounty Hunter. I took it to a local park and every three feet I would get a beep. I dug up 10 beeps, ALL of them were soda cans from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. I was hoping to find just ONE coin, but no :(

Metal detecting can be very promising, but VERY frustrating.

I've already had a good experience with Frustration. I spent 10 minutes in the back yard after I got the detector, I couldn't wait to get out in this park up the street from me! Its a cool little place with an activity scene, soccer fields, skate park and nature walk, The nature walk is maintained around the path only. I went a few weeks ago so the wild grass was only 10" or so. Me being so excited and a little nervous figures I'll venture out in wild areas. This way I can be hidden. And figured the odds would be better. Well I get about 50 yards through this grass and weeds to a nice little opening thats maintained. I figure I'll start hunting here. As soon as I turn the machine bing 6" but bouncing around so I start digging when I feel something crawling up my leg. Its a darn Tic, after removing him, I see another and another and another. I got em all off me and was half a step into haulin assk somebody! When I say NO, I turn the machine on and get sounds one minute but when I go back over that spot nothing then a sound, I dug about 5 holes always a good 8"wide that varied between 6" and 4" each time getting a pc of metal, A brace or bracket, cans ripped up, then I fell something crawling on me again. ITs another tic the sun was beating down on me and I said the heck with this I'm going over to where its maintained with some shade. I'm carrying a bucket full of tools to get through the mostly shale ground. So I did my best tic avoidance dance back through the grass. Only one got on me this time though. My dance must of worked.LOL Then I repeated the false signals $ trash finding for about another 2 hrs. Ready to call it a day, I get another sound 8". At first I didn't want to dig it. But the way it was going between gold and coin I figured I'd better. I spent 10minutes looking for what turned out to be an old bullet. Well that charged me up for another 2 hrs that resulted in nothing. I wanted to give up and say screw this, but I remember a lot of posts saying be patient plus I was still having fun. So my frustration level was pretty high, I didn't get no Tic diseases. I dug a lot of false signals, And not knowing what sounds were what didn't help. I don't think I turned my machine down low enough. OOOHH this is the best part! Turns out a lot of those signals were from my boots! When I would sweep back towards meI tend to lift the machine, making it go off on the guide rings for the laces. D.A.!! That was real relaxing to find out on the way back to the car....., but all in all it was a good time.

My last metal detecting resulted in a $500 deductible, a tiny, tiny rental car, and a ruined brand new Ford Explorer.
