Hi coin peoples! Hope all had a nice holiday. I have just arrived back in town and had this coin waiting in my mailbox.

I was wondering if you money maestros could tell me if there is anything special here. To be clear, while I strongly feel that snickers are special in so far as candy goes, snickering is a faux pas in the upper echelons of society in which I travel.

I have a couple of more images to submit but wanted to get this posted because when I hit submit I not only may get an answer to my numystical query but will also find out if I have been banned yet.

Wish me luck on the submit button thingy!

to CCF!

Not sure why you would think you would be banned?

I'm just seeing a regular Susan B. Anthony dollar, but would love to see what else you are interested in posting.

It is the last issue for the SBA, other then that I think it's just a normal coin. Oh and, to CCF.

I don't see anything unusual about it other than the weak second T in TRUST. That may be from strike, but more likely just a bit of grease. Nothing special.

So it is probably not a slug but definitely nothing special?

ok, this coin was sold to me by a "legit" auction house.

it was listed as follows:
(pls to remember the snickers analogy. if you choose to laugh I hope milk sprays out your nose)

===========================================
Pre-auction estimate = $60 - $75

1999-SBA-Question

so, 3 questions;

1. is this coin anywhere near ms66 in anyone's opinion?
2. would you dispute this with your credit card issuer OR should I just live and learn and forget it?
3. I don't suppose the cracked earth makes it worth $$37 delivered?

yes, you may now mock and pity me.

HOWEVER, all is not lost!

i am going to be rich rich rich! my 4 year old just brought me this error half that he not only found but actually helped make! I'm sooo proud!

the obverse is referred to as:
The snotting Moe Howard with a ms70 Teddy Roosevelt 'stache

Nice SBA but I see enough bagmarks to keep the coin from going over MS64

The "cracked earth" is not an error at all, it is just a very common small die crack. The die steel tends to wear and develop small cracks/chips with repeated use. These cracks and chips are then transferred to struck coins as a small raised feature. It is a normal part of the minting process and is acceptable to US Mint quality control.

Feel free to post as many more coins as you want. You can group several similar coins together in one post for the sake of simplicity.

Ergh, Granny that half is a 40% silver content coin. FYI, 1965-1970 half dollars are 40% silver. Some acetone shold remove the marker.

As for the SBA, the die crack is cool, but NOT 37 bucks cool. MS66...nope. 63 or 64 at the very best.

fortunately he used a dry erase marker as I would have had no idea how to get it off. he "colored" many to make me happy. I'm not good at discipline but I think he understands. interestingly, I never mentioned the coin value. I concentrated on respecting our country, history and the men who made his xbox360 a reality by their sacrifices. I think I hit a homer.

though even a broken clock is.....

thx all
