These are the first coins I have submitted here for opinion on grade. I recently bought 20 peace and Morgan dollars from another forum (not coin related) and these were the 3 nicest.

The first is an 1879S Morgan. It has some dark toning, but I don't really see a lot of wear.

Here is the next one. The 1881 Morgan. It has some uneven toning which I initially thought was due to heat but I'm not sure.

and the last is the 1924 Peace.

I was wondering about this one although the head, to me, looks a little worn, I see some nice toning on the reverse. Thoughts?

Thanks everyone!

Mike

Thanks for the comments. I use a Canon Powershot and I cannot recommend it enough. It is an amazing camera. I didn't notice the flow. Thanks for pointing that out.

Nice ones. I'm not into toning but find the 81 attractive. Grading is a little difficult due to the dark pictures, both Morgans look banged up alot, the 79 S breast appears to be missing some definition, again hard to say due to the darkness. Some tops of stars not uniformly toned with the rest along with some date surfaces. AU at minumum ? I don't know Peace $$s so can't say.

I think the camera must bring out a lot more detail that what can be seen with the eye because it certainly doesn't look that bad in person. I'm guessing most dollars have those kind of bumps and scratches but the toning really highlights them.

the 1879-S if it is Uncirculated probably would never grade higher than MS-60 because it has way to many hits to go higher and I am not sure it would grade as Uncirculated, The same with the 1881 MS-60 if Uncirculated and maybe even XF is not. The Peace dollar looks to be the best of the 3 and may grade AU but I am really not good at grading them so I could be off on its grade

I will say XF-45 for the two Morgans could make AU-50 on a good day.

Peace dollar is AU-53 territory
