Beautiful large cent !!!

I have no idea as to the market grade. 63 might be right, but the EAC grade would most likely be in the 50 to 55 range, IMHO.

Both of you got the market grade - ANACS 63 and in hand I can see some wear at the high points so the EAC grade of 50 to 55 would be my guess also.
Thanks!

EAC ain't messin' around. They grade 150-year-old coppers like they were modern commems. The TPG's would be out of work in a month if they were that strict.

thats a fact, if you get a coin that the EAC graded XF any of the top TPG's would grade it atleast AU-58 and sometimes even in the MS grades. When I first started buying old copper coins I went to a few dealers that use the EAC standards and I thought WOW they really think their coins are made of gold because of their pricing, then I went and started looking elsewhere and noticed everyone elses AU and MS coins were priced about the same as those others XF coins (of course at this time I knew very little about copper coins and was just going by the assigned grade and not the coin)after I did learn a little I went back to the first pages and noticed those XF coins looked better than alot of the MS coins that were in the top TPG holders the other people were selling

This coin I would grade an MS 62 or 63. I don't see any moved metal in the devices and the only issue I do see is a bit of field dings. I would also expect to see a coin in this nice of condition to have a bit more luster. All in all I like it very much.

Very nice!

WOW!!! What a beautiful coin. MS63 I think would be appropriate. If you own it I am envious. One in this excellent condition is just great.

even though I said once I purchased a coin for my dansco album that it was there to stay I may be tempted to buy such a coin as yours to replace the one that is in there at present time
