I just acquired several 1991 25c mint rolls, fresh from a hoarder who had whole mint box. What would you do? A - search the rolls and hope to cherry pick a few MS-65 or MS-66 grades? B - sell the rolls intact? I already know what I intend to do, but it should be fun seeing what this crowd's opinion is... The market is already flooded... you can buy raw mint state examples for $10 now...

B-sell them intact, they fetch good money as unopened rolls on ebayUnless you have quite a few rolls odds of finding a 65 are low,and '91s in MS65 are only worth $50 Use the money you get from selling the rolls to buy a pile of original rolls of 70s and 80s and search them for gems that are worth than the '91s of similar grade

I agree with DBM, usually only a couple gems in a box, the rolla aeem to be bringing decent cash with no hassle.
I'd buy a roll, in fact since I was so blase about all the nickle 25 cent pieces I'm now correcting the error and buying many rolls from those years. Amazing what a roll or two of silver fifty pieces buys now.

What I try to do is purchase several rolls of a year, and then go through one or two to see if is worth while checking more. I then keep at least one roll of each denomination for keepsakes.

Sell as rolls and buy some neat stuff! I just cashed out in the last few months some modern silver coins and rolls (1960 ish) and bought some super US on our recent Nevada road trip! Had never owned a mint state bust half or mint state type one or two Standing quarter and finally finished my CC dollars in 64! Do not even think you will miss the rolls!

From an Australian perspective: I opened 25 rolls of $1 coins (1000), looking for GEM (higher MS). I looked at each through a 10xloupe. Result was 40 coins....4%. Weigh that up in your considerations about cost to keep or sell. I also collect rolls, so I have at least one of most denominations from 1984. There is a market for unopened rolls, especialy those that contain possible scarce coins or varieties.

Presuming the rolls came from one source, I would take a chance on (A) Check one roll for high grade coins out of curiousity. If there was a jackpot of gems, I'd open another roll. If the first checked roll was baggy crap I'd (B) sell the rest as intact rolls.
