I'm confused with links at CCF. It asks for a "Home Page" link in my profile, but when I add a Home Page link, it converts to 'Not Allowed". Same for my signature. I see some members have links and images in their signature.

I thought 50-posts was the link threshold?

Some specific links are not allowed. 90% of the time because their owners spammed us. That site was banned because their forum was completely unmoderated and absolutely loaded up with downright nasty spam, and boy do I mean nasty.

Bobby, what site are you referring to?

I am talking about a link to my "Home Page" in my profile.

For some reason you are doing a "who on first", "what's on second" with me.

My Home Page is << Staff Removed >>, and while I admit Network Solutions provides a very crude and simple User Forum, there is no spam on there, and hasn't been for along time.

When Network Solutions first offered a free User Forum, they had some spamming problems. However, that's been over a year ago, and since then they have added features like requiring a question to be answered before posting, and every time there is a post I receive an e-mail to monitor it. Also, I am now able to Banned any IP address if there is a continuing problem.

So, what your are saying is no longer an issue - it has been addressed and fixed by Network Solutions long ago.

I don't understand, I was pretty clear. The last time a link was posted here to that site I got a letter from an attorney whose kid followed a link here and saw the illegal filth that was posted on it. I'm telling you it was downright disgusting and the fact that you just refer to it as "they had some spamming problems" tells me you have no idea what was there. I was mortified and blocked the domain and never looked back.

Then we got drug through the mud on another forum for days because the guy that posted the link is an Admin on yet another forum and proceeded to cry about censorship and freedom of speech and what buttheads we are here. The Staff here spent weeks doing cleanup.

I will check the site occasionally for a while and when I'm convinced that it's being properly monitored I'll consider allowing it again. Sorry.

Bobby, thank you for explaining your position. You are correct that you should be "convinced that it's being properly monitored", and I can assure you it has, ever since Network Solutions gave its users the tools to properly monitor their web site Forums many months ago.

On another note, I've checked-out most of the coin collector Forums currently on the Internet. I've come to the conclusion the type of Forum used here on CCF is the best (has a user friendly operation with many features) - the spell check feature and ability to upload images makes it so.

Any tips on how I can upgrade my Forum (junk the limited free Forum that Network Solutions provides)to something like what we have here on CCF.

Well, unfortunately most hosted free forum packages will not release your database for conversion to a new software package, which means you start over. I do not know about this particular one for sure though.

Also keep in mind, while Snitz is a great forum package, the installation here is light-years from "out of the box."
