Where is a good place to find the value for the various confederate notes? I have the CDN "greensheets" and I can find just about everything else but I don't think they have the confederate notes in there. Any suggestions on websites or magazines/guides would be appreciated.

I know there is a book called "The Official Blackbook Guide to United States Paper Money" that is published every year. It costs less than $10 in it..
It has Confederate Currency in it, but only by major type, not minor, and I'm not sure how accurate the prices are, but at least it's a start.

You'll find geographic differences in the prices of Confederate currency, especially high end stuff so a "generic" price guide would be difficult. Also, small differences like signatures make a difference.

So how does one really go about knowing what a fair price would be for these notes? If the annual guide isn't too accurate and there isn't a good website that has a guide, how does one value any specific note and grade? Do people just use ebay prices?

I think ebay prices would probably be the best guide as to what these bills sell for in the marketplace.. However, and sales you do choose to compare have to be the same type as the note you have or want to buy.. Also, I think it would be near impossible to have a complete price guide based on signature, as literally hundreds, if not thousands, of people signed these notes, including women and children probably.. I think I should do a bit more research in this subject

Okay.. Did some research, and a website known as https://www.csanotes.com suggested the book "Collecting Confederate Paper Money, Field edition 2008" by Pierre Fricke. They said it would be the ONLY guide needed when dealing with CSA notes.. Here is a link (I hope) to where one is sold: www.indiancent.com/856-collecting-confederate-paper-money-by-pierre-fricke-.html They are cheaper on Amazon, though..

hey coinsearcher, thanks for the info. I may get that book. Basically I am a casual buyer of confederate notes here and there and I don't know nearly as much about them as I do coins so I didn't want to overpay or get fakes, so I wanted to brush up a bit on them.

I don't think that there is a good price guide for Confederate currency particularly for certified examples in mid or higher grade or for the rarer notes such as the Montgomerys, T15 and the like. I would think your best source for information on the current value of the rarer notes would be Heritage Galleries Archives. Crutchfield Currency, Vern Potter, or Greg Ton might be other sites to check out.
