Hello all. I'm new to the Morgan silver dollar scene, but have been doing quite a bit of research on thsem before I pull the trigger on my first one. I definitely will be visiting some local coin shop but am wondering what are some good online sites to buy from. I'm a bit scared of ebay at this point because I'm afraid of getting burned. Property Room looks like a good site. I see APMEX even has some, and everything on there looks pretty legit, but I think their shipping charges make things pretty pricey. Any other ideas? Thanks.

ebay isint that bad, I've gotten some nice coins off of there. Paypal is pretty good about protecting its buyers. If you feel like you've been had, just call paypal and whine :) **cough cough, buy them from forum members cough cough*

Most of mine are probably from ebay. You just have to continue your research, know what you want, know what you're buying and know who you're buying from. Just about all my Morgans were bought raw BU MS from good posted pictures and all returnable to the seller. If the picture is no good, stay away. Many purchased in the $20-$40 raw range and came back graded MS 64 +. My best buy was probably a 1885 O NGC 63 I sniped for $13. Good luck and happy hunting.

One thing about returns on ebay I dont think a lot of people know... If the seller uses paypal, paypal REQUIRES you to make returns on ANYTHING you sell for upto 45 days. No matter if you mark "No Returns" on ebay or not. Paypal will almost always refund the buyers money if there is a problem! So if your a seller and use paypal you DO take returns lol

Oh and one more thing, I have gotten some pretty good deals on ebay buying coins from people that dont know how to photograph coins, or use a camera for that matter hehe. Just make sure you dont spend much more than the coins melt value if your not sure.

Ok, so I finally decided to buy my first Morgan. The seller was very reputable and the photos looked good. Hopefully I didn't get burnt. What do you all think? Still makes me nervous buying off ebay.

Looks like you'll see an MS63 coin when it arrives. Not too shabby at the price.

Hi everyone... new guy here... I have spent a while reading and came across a message here I had to respond to, at least for the sake of making certain the correct info was out there... in responce to master6238's message above, he stated: "One thing about returns on ebay I dont think a lot of people know... If the seller uses paypal, paypal REQUIRES you to make returns on ANYTHING you sell for upto 45 days. No matter if you mark "No Returns" on ebay or not. Paypal will almost always refund the buyers money if there is a problem! So if your a seller and use paypal you DO take returns lol" This is totally incorrect information. I have been a very long time buyer/seller on ebay and have been with PayPal since its inception and I can tell you while PayPal protects buyers from fraudulent sellers, PayPal is very much on the side of sellers and would not EVER try to enforce a "you must take returns" policy on ebay sellers! Now if the item is misrepresentedm no problem, but an across the board no questions return policy? No way! If the seller can prove he/she sent the item, and the seller is in good standing with ebay and PayPal, PayPal will ALWAYS stand behind the seller, regardless how much whining the buyer does. What if a buyer switched a coin and tried to return it? Unless the seller posted a wrong photo or incorrect description, if the ebay seller stated NO RETURNS PayPal will not force the seller to take make the item. Even if the buyer does a credit card chargeback, the issue will be then between the buyer and PayPal, and the ebay seller will be totally protected
