Poll Question
Everyone has different taste in eye appeal. Let's say for the sake of keeping things consistent that the Pre 1967 Canadian Decimal I'm talking about ranges from 1858-1966 (business strikes only) for all 6 decimals and in Uncirculated condition. Let me know "your taste" whether it may be blast white or toned in appearance. I've always wondered what my fellow Collectors preferred, then let me know why! Glenn

For silver I like the gold toned coins and the blast white but I don't really care for the dark toned coins. For the large cent copper coins I like the lustrous brown leaning towards traces of red.

For monarchs in my lifetime,GeoVI and Elizabeth, blast white, preferably with cameo. For Victoria,Edward, and GeoV,I prefer toned, mostly because I have so very few in MS,they don't look out of place with preferably nicely toned circulated coins. For the cents, blast red would be great, but it's not in my budget

Neither. I prefer a realistic look, maybe with a touch of toning.

A hint of pale yellow toning around the rim is nice, but no more than that.
At the last coin show I was at, I looked at a coin in a holder, obverse up, showing significant toning. I asked the dealer if I could see it. I turned it over, and it was black. I gave it back and left the table.

I am suspicious of coins that are blast white. Of course they exist but how many are cleaned to give that appearance? I like affordable coins - scarce affordable coins, they are not white. Seeing a coin with a nice patina in my mind increases value.

I was going to say the same... blast white = dipped right?
And if 1 in a million coins can manage to stay truly white...there would be no telling it from a dipped coin, correct?
Toned would seem to be much more valuable.

Toned to my way of thinking is ugly.

DBM and I think alike on this, I agree.
I don't like that black powder looking toning but I'm fine with black if it contains rainbow toning or it's glossy looking.

Maybe not, but I had a jet black AU Walker that I dipped and PCGS gave 63 once it was blast white.
